Collectors of Contemporary Fine Art Photography

Contemporary art collectors are demanding great fine art photography even more than the traditional arts these days. The collectable value of fine art photography is increasing dramatically month by month, year by year. This is partly due to the fact that the price of fine art photography is so very reasonable compared to that of the older, traditional, art forms. Brilliant images can be collected for a fraction of the cost of a painting or sculpture. Those of us looking to collect photographs must firstly be attracted by our love of the image and secondly by it's investment value. A good example of investment value is the most loved photo by Ansel Adams called Moonrise Over Hernandez. In 1949 he sold 16" x 20" prints for a mere £35.00 each - but now you would be lucky to buy the same for less than £50,000!

It is the intention of this gallery to aid collectors of all categories in building a portfolio of inspirational fine art photography that will increase dramatically in value over the years.

A few things to consider when investing in your new photograph:

  • Buy it because you love it

  • The gallery must be able to provide information and history of any image it sells

  • Be sure that the print is an original, preferably orchestrated by the photographer himself

  • Is the photograph part of a limited edition?

  • Where applicable, obtain a certificate of authenticity from the photographer

  • Learn how to best take care of your new print

  • Understand the basics of framing and displaying your photograph
